Day 10: Tuesday, April 14

Matthew 3:13-17

Then Jesus came from Galilee to John to be baptized by him in the Jordan River. But John tried to prevent him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and yet you come to me?”

So Jesus replied to him, “Let it happen now, for it is right for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John yielded to him.

After Jesus was baptized, just as he was coming up out of the water, the heavens opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my one dear Son; in him I take great delight.”

COMMENT & QUESTIONS

Jesus wanted to be baptised so that He could fulfil all righteousness. This shows us that Jesus was not on a selfish mission, but He came to fulfil a purpose.

At the end of Matthew, Jesus gives us a mission to fulfil.

In what way are we focused on fulfilling that mission today?

The mission that Jesus gave us was to make disciples of all nations. Think about what opportunities we have to fulfil that today. Think about the people in your life who are not currently disciples of Jesus. Think about how you might be able to reach them and point them to Jesus.

PRAYERS

That we might be focussed on the mission Christ has given us For the souls around the world who are seeking to become disciples of Jesus
